Remembrance Day

At 11:00 on the 11th day of the 11th month the nation stops to remember and pay tribute to all those who have given their lives during all wars and armed conflicts. This date represents the signing of the Armistice that ended the First World War.

The Remembrance Day National Ceremony at the Australian War Memorial runs from 10:15 to 12:00 noon and is a moving tribute to those who have fallen in the service of our nation. The ceremony features Australia’s Federation Guard and the Band of the Royal Military College as well as numerous dignitaries and diplomats who will be participating in a formal wreath laying. Students representing numerous schools from around Australia will also be in attendance and contributing to the ceremony.

Due to the popularity of the ceremony, parking is very restricted. A Spinway bike makes a perfect way to travel, letting you ride right to the door. It’s a short 2km ride from the Crowne Plaza hotel or 2.7km from The Novotel.
